On Thursday 30th January, Networking With A Difference hosted a very special event at Hypo Hounds, the Kent-based charity dedicated to training medical alert assistance dogs for people living with diabetes.

Due to strong interest in the event, two sessions were held during the day, welcoming around 20 guests in both the morning and afternoon sessions. Each session brought together local business professionals for an inspiring experience that combined relaxed networking with the opportunity to learn more about the remarkable work carried out by the Hypo Hounds team.

Inspiring Stories and Conversations

Guests were welcomed with time to network and connect with fellow attendees before hearing from Nick McGowan of What's On In Kent, who spoke about the importance of supporting charities and community initiatives through events such as these.

Nick also shared a speech from Steve Cameron of Simply Print Partners, whose generous sponsorship helped make the event possible.

The highlight of the talks came from Jane Pearman, CEO and Founder of Hypo Hounds, who shared the powerful story behind the charity. As the mother of a diabetic child, Jane spoke movingly about the challenges families face and how that personal experience led her to establish Hypo Hounds, an organisation dedicated to training assistance dogs capable of detecting dangerous blood sugar changes.

Her insight into the life-changing work of these specially trained dogs was both fascinating and deeply inspiring for everyone in attendance.

Meeting the Dogs

A particularly memorable moment for guests was the opportunity to meet one of the charity’s dogs, Dory, and learn more about the role these animals play in supporting people with diabetes.

Guests were also treated to a live demonstration of scent detection training, where Bolt worked alongside an instructor to show how Hypo Hounds train their dogs to recognise the scent changes associated with fluctuating blood sugar levels. The demonstration offered a fascinating glimpse into the dedication, skill and patience involved in preparing these dogs for such an important role.

Great Hospitality and Relaxed Networking

Throughout the event, guests enjoyed a buffet of sandwiches, cakes and snacks, along with tea and coffee, providing plenty of opportunity for relaxed conversations and new connections.

Guests were also able to sample wine kindly provided by Balfour Winery, adding another enjoyable touch to the day’s hospitality.

A Big Thank You

A huge thank you goes to Jane Pearman and the entire Hypo Hounds team for hosting such a memorable and inspiring event and for sharing the incredible work they do.

We would also like to thank Simply Print Partners for sponsoring the event, Balfour Winery for their generous contribution, and of course all the guests who joined us for making the day such a success.

It was a truly special opportunity to learn more about the life-changing work of Hypo Hounds while enjoying another fantastic Networking With A Difference event.
